SGARS 80metre 2013 Contest
SGARS 80 METRE TROPHY CONTEST returns by popular demand.
On Saturday 27th July 2013, from 18:00 to 00:00 midnight local, members of the St George Amateur Radio Society will be holding an 80 metre contest. The victor will join the legion of SGARS’ 80 metre immortals.
If you hear the call of “CQ Contest” from a VK2, that will probably be us! Listen out on 80 metres and enjoy a qso with a fired-up SGARS contest member!
The competition is open to all members of St George Amateur Radio Society, who will being using SSB, CW and digital with distance points applying. Contest rules available here.

What is a Contest ?
Contests are a popular part of the amateur radio and gives you an opportunity to practice and develop your operating skills and techniques, and to see how well your station is performing. Also contest get plenty of stations on the air and to increase the opportunities for making contacts.
What is a Field Day ?
A Field Day is a contest especially for portable stations, operating from a good location such as a hilltop or quiet location away from RF noise. Often operators camp out overnight. Apart from having fun, Field Days are a great way to check out your equipment in the field and to experiment with light weight, easily transportable equipment and antennas.
