| 2011 VHF UHF Field Day |

|
The aim of the field day is to get away for the weekend and have fun, encourage more activity on VHF and microwave bands, to make contacts over greater distances than usual by operating portable, and an opportunity to activate or work into new grid squares. More information about the WIA Spring VHF UHF Field Day and the contest rules, can be found at the WIA web site. This is an ideal opportunity for new amateur radio license holders to become involved in the hobby. Mt Bindo is located in The Great Dividing Range with an elevation of 1363 metres above sea level, and provides good VHF and UHF take off in all directions. The site is located near Hampton, off the Jenolan Caves Road, accessible by two wheel drive vehicles, except in the snow season. Operators must be self sufficient as the nearest McDonalds is about a two hour return drive away. In addition to your favourite VHF UHF transceiver and antennas etc, operators should bring all food, water, toilet paper, shovel, clothing for all seasons, wet weather gear (hopefully will not be required), sleeping kit, torch / lights, battery / generator.
