WIA 2011 Spring VHF UHF Field Day SGARS Contest Field Station The St George Amateur Radio Society will be operating an amateur radio field station for the duration of the 2011 WIA VHF UHF Field Day. The SGARS field station will be located at Mt Bindo, about 3 hours west of Sydney. The station will operating for a 24 hour period from midday (0100 UTC) Saturday 26th to midday (0100 UTC) Sunday 27th November 2011.

The aim of the field day is to get away for the weekend and have fun, encourage more activity on VHF and microwave bands, to make contacts over greater distances than usual by operating portable, and an opportunity to activate or work into new grid squares.

This is an ideal opportunity for new amateur radio license holders to become involved in the hobby.

Operators must be self sufficient as the nearest McDonalds is about a two hour return drive away. In addition to your favourite VHF UHF transceiver and antennas etc, operators should bring all food, water, toilet paper, shovel, clothing for all seasons, wet weather gear (hopefully will not be required), sleeping kit, torch / lights, battery / generator.
