To Saturday 14 May 2022
In 2021, the St George Amateur Radio Society Inc (SGARS) established the Don Edwards Memorial Slow Morse Contest to honour the contribution of Don Edwards (VK2NV-SK) to
Morse code operation and proficiency. The slow morse contest is run annually in May.
As Morse code competence is no longer required for gaining a radio amateur operator’s certificate of proficiency (AOCP), members and friends of SGARS are offering any radio
amateur the opportunity to practice on air up to a relatively comfortable 5 words per minute (wpm) in the 2 weeks leading up to the contest commencing nightly at 2000
(AEST) with the first session being Sunday 1st May 2022 on 3520kHz +/- as necessary. The operator will operate under the club’s callsign VK2LE.
