Radio Direction Finding Presentation

We will have the pleasure of a technical presentation by John Thyrd VK2BBC, on VHF radio direction finding by technical staff within the aviation industry.

The presentation will cover the various technical aspects of radio direction finding including;

 

  • Common Sources of RFI

  • Analysing RFI reports

  • Basic Propagation  at VHF

  • Radiation patterns of  various antennas

  • Basic equipment and methods for locating RFI

  • DF Receivers and  antennas -   Yagis and the Adcock or 2 element phased array

  • Getting Organised for a DF "mission"

  • Picking a location and taking  bearings.

  • Plotting Bearings

  • Automatic DF Systems including the RDF Products  DFP-1000

The presentation will follow our regular meeting commencing at 07.30 PM, Wednesday 7th July 2010 at our club's meeting room, Donnelly Park, Kyle Parade, Kyle Bay.
