Safety Around the Shack - 1 Aug 2012

Amateur radio can be a dangerous hobby and it's not only high voltages and RF exposure to worry about. Many amateurs involved in homebrewing or repairing their own equipment can be exposed to potentially dangerous chemicals, such as lead in solder and even PCB (Poly Chlorinated Biphenyls) in old capacitors and transformers. Other hazards involve falling off roofs and towers or having things fall on you and your family!

This discussion can alert you to the possible dangers and what strategies that others have used to minimise the hazards.

This presentation will be of interest to both newcomers to amateur radio and experienced operators. Our presenter, Brian VK2GCE, has been working in the area of workplace safety in a professional capacity and is familiar with the current legislation and regulations.

The Safety Around the Shack discussion will be held on Wednesday evening, 1st of August 2012, commencing at 7.30 PM. The venue is the rooms of The St George Amateur Radio Society, Donnelly Park, Kyle Parade, Connells Point.
