2025 Events

This amateur radio contest is indeed held annually on the weekend closest to 15 August, marking Victory in the Pacific Day (VP Day), which commemorates the end of hostilities in the southwest Pacific during World War II. The contest honors amateur radio operators (Amateurs) who lost their lives during the war and aims to foster friendly participation and help operators improve their skills.

Aim Of The Contest - Amateurs will endeavour to contact amateurs in VK call areas, ZL and P29 on all bands except WARC bands. Modes allowed are PHONE, CW and RTTY as per the era remembered.

RD Contest – SGARS Club Operation

Members of The St George Amateur Radio Society are invited to take part in this year’s Remembrance Day Contest using the SGARS club call sign VK2LE, operating from Oatley Park.

Date: Saturday, 16th August 2025
Meet Time: From midday to set up
Contest Start: 1:00 pm
Location: Rear of the oval, Oatley Park

We’ll be setting up in the afternoon and operating throughout the contest period. This is a great opportunity to honor the memory of amateur operators who served during WWII, to enjoy friendly competition, and to sharpen your on-air skills.
