For over 40 years, a dedicated group of SGARS members have established both 2m and 70cm repeaters at three different sites both in Sydney and beyond. Over this period, the SGARS repeater team have maintained and upgraded the repeaters. Paul VK2GX will give you an insight into how these repeaters operate, the various features available, work done by the repeater team and what the future may hold.
We probably all familiar with your local repeater, you may even be listening to this broadcast through a repeater. Have you ever wondered how does this happen every week, and how do repeaters actually work?
Paul will give an insight into how full duplex operation is achieved with such narrow frequency separation, how the ARNSW broadcast is re-transmitted, and from where do those unfamiliar voices and call signs originate. More importantly what is involved in keeping a repeater operational. And also the perplexing questions of why some repeaters have sub-tones and others don’t and why 2 metre repeaters at or below 147.000 MHz have a negative offset, while those above 147.000 MHz have a positive offset.
Come along to this presentation on Wednesday 5th July and learn how to get the most out of SGARS repeaters.
